The new “Atom Heart Mother” can be ordered by U.S. The third concert on that tour was at the Festival Hall in Osaka. Hakone Aphrodite was Japan’s version of Woodstock, with Pink Floyd and Buffy Saint-Marie topping the bill. Songs included a 15-minute “Atom Heart Mother” suite as well as “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun” and “Echoes.” The Blu-ray’s live footage appears limited to “Atom Heart Mother” as well as some festival environmental footage (see footage below). I have filtered this tune using a perametric equalizer function in Adobe Audition, with quite a sharp filter, 10 decibels down at around 200 Hz.

Perhaps there was too much time pressure, or perhaps Roger Waters wasn't interested in doing another take, concentrating on the artistic rather than the acoustic merits. It's a bit of a mystery why the recording engineer overlooked or ignored this rather pronounced flaw in the recording. A far more likely reason is that the recording was done in a room with unfavourable dimensions and poor absorption and poor distribution of sound. Why is this so? One possible reason could be a bad guitar with an unwanted resonance due to poor design or workmanship. It's as if this particular string on the guitar is louder than the other strings, in an annoying way. Whenever Roger Waters hits the G-sharp note which is the second note (or step) in the chord, a marked resonance can be heard. The song starts with a picked E-major chord on an acoustic guitar. The tune 'If' which was written and performed mainly by Roger Waters and kicks off side two of AHM has an acoustic anomaly.
